Competition
We will play a triple-knock-out system with 24 teams.
All 24 teams will start in the A road, losses will relegate the teams into the B and C roads
consecutively, 3 losses will eliminate a team completely from further competition. 3 qualifiers
will advance out of the A road, 3 qualifiers out of the C road and the 2 qualifiers will come
through the B road.
All games will be 8 ends with an extra end if needed. In case of a blank in the extra end the
team without the hammer in that end will automatically win the game. Only the final will be
played with as many extra ends as needed to decide a winner.
Quarter final losers will all be ranked 5th with equal amount of prize money. Ranks 3 and 4 will
not be played out either. Both will be ranked 3rd.
There will be no time limit in the regular rounds, slow play is frowned upon and quicker play
will be imposed by tournament supervision. In the Semi final and Final will be a time limit (59
minutes per team and 8 ends, one 60 seconds team time-out, extra end: 9 minutes, one 60 seconds team time-out).
In regular rounds of play, games can be conceded at any time. A minimum of 6 ends in Semi
final and Final will be played.
Teams will be fined 5000 CHF for any forfeit of the Semi final or Final games.
Hammer
In the regular rounds the hammer will be decided by using the Last Stone Draw.
One player will deliver one stone to the tee at the home end with normal sweeping allowed. All
stones finishing in the house are measured and the distance recorded. Stones that do not
finish in the house are recorded as 185.4 cm. Stones that finish so close to the tee that they
cannot be measured are recorded as 0.0 cm. The team with the lesser Last Stone Draw has
the choice of delivering the first or second stone in the first end. If neither team has a stone
that finishes in the house, or both teams record the same distance, a coin toss will decide
which team has the choice of delivering the first or second stone in the first end.
A practice stone may be played to the away end. The two practice stones should be thrown
consecutively; followed by the Last Stone Draw stones.
A coin toss will decide which team has the choice of the colour or the right to play the Last
Stone Draw as second team.
Throughout all play off games the higher ranked qualified team will retain the hammer. In case
of equally ranked teams facing off, a Last Stone Draw determines the hammer in that playoff
game.
Forfeit
Teams that show up 15 minutes or more late for a draw will loose automatically by forfeit.
